DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars now for what will surely be an interesting
and informative talk about the Florida black bear\, presented by David Jac
ob\, with FWCC.\n\nAs northwest Florida grows\, encounters with black bear
s occur more and more. It's important to learn all we can about these amaz
ing animals in order to better understand how to co-exist with them.\n\nTh
e presentation will delve into the history\, biology\, and behavior of the
black bear. It will also cover the basics of managing human/bear conflict
\, including securing attractants\, pet safety\, and how to effectively de
ter bears from a property.\n\nMr. Jacob has worked with the FWCC as the We
st Panhandle Area Bear Biologist for four years.\n\nHe has an undergraduat
e degree in zoology and a master's in environmental management from Duke U
niversity.\n\nPrior to working with bears\, he worked with several other s
pecies including iguanas\, sea turtles\, and wolves.\n\nWhen not working h
 e likes going to the beach\, snowboarding\, and traveling.\n\n\n
